Towson University publicly reports all hazing violations by student groups from the past seven years that break University policy or the law.

Description of the incident: Prospective new members suffered physical abuse and were required to do calisthenics in extreme weather conditions in an underground process.

Spring 2024

Date of the incident: Nov. 30, 2023

Date the incident was reported: Dec. 19, 2023

Description of the incident: Members were forced to wear extremely high heels and stand for hours during practices, while being yelled or cursed at by executive board members. The organization also mismanaged student dues.

  • intentionally furnishing false or untruthful information to a university official

  • unauthorized entry into, presence at or use of university property, facilities, systems or records

  • Theft of property or services. This includes, but is not limited to, attempted theft, conspiracy to steal, knowing possession of stolen property, misappropriation of another’s property, extortion, blackmail, utilizing services without payment and embezzlement.

Accountability actions assigned: Suspension through March 5, 2029, probation for 1 year following suspension, reorganization plan.

Date the incident was reported: Nov. 7, 2023

Description of the incident: New members faced intensive testing on the chapter and its members, were pressured to dress a certain way and spent excessive time on fraternity activities.

Fall 2023

Description of the incident: New members were required to address brothers formally, complete fraternity quizzes in lineups, were offered alcohol and questioned about their clothing.

Fall 2022

Date of the incident: Sept. 10, 2022 and during the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 new member processes

Date the incident was reported: Sept. 12, 2022

Description of the incident: The organization recruited new members in violation of Fraternity and Sorority Life policies. An investigation found that four potential members were involved in a February 2022 car accident after being forced to travel during an incident involving physical abuse. This occurred while the fraternity was inactive and prohibited from recruiting.

Fall 2021

Description of the incident: New members were subjected to excessive alcohol use and emotional abuse, including blindfolding, yelling, confinement to complete tasks, forced calisthenics and performing chores and errands.

Description of the incident: New members were required to complete physical activities like wall sits, and engage in excessive alcohol consumption.

Description of the incident: New members experienced verbal abuse, excessive alcohol use, forced consumption of unusual foods, physical exertion including calisthenics and sleeping on floors during mandatory overnights and were sent on a scavenger hunt in another city.

Description of the incident: New members were forced to run errands, do degrading tasks, drink alcohol as a group, sleep on a cement floor and endure verbal abuse.

Description of the incident: Sisters intimidated and yelled at new members. New members were forced to follow sisters on social media without being given their handles.

Description of the incident: Mandatory off-campus events required new members to pass unrelated quizzes, sit in silence for extended periods, endure yelling and pass around alcohol.

Spring 2019

Date of the incident: Through the recruitment and new member process during Spring 2019, Fall 2018, and Spring 2018.

Date the incident was reported: March 11, 2019

Description of the incident: The organization engaged in hazing involving hosting events where underage students were served alcohol and drugs were present.

Date the investigation was initiated: March 27, 2019

Accountability actions assigned: Constitutional revisions, organization name modification, revision of recruitment and new member process, probation for 12 months, social probation for 6 months, regular meetings with Student Activities, educational workshops on drugs, alcohol and hazing.
